Latest SCR News
A NEW YEAR & SOME NEW UPDATES. 26 Mar Jul 2008. South City Raceways has undergone some change of recent, some change in structure & hopefully a new direction. This includes some new rules for & a new way of organising our calendar. Just a quick overview of what we have planned for the next few months:
- NEW RULES - Finally, after much discussion, our new competition rules are 99% complete. This will hopefully show & clear direction on how members can prepare their cars. When these details are completely finalised, they will be uploaded to this site
- NEW CALENDAR STRUCTURE - This one is currently at the sign off stage. Once final approval is given, the calendar will be distrubuted. The biggest change is there will be more structure, including Drivers Championships (as before), but also new "SCR Championships". This way, we can use the cars in our boxes for meaningful races & have a rolling point score for the week in-week out running that we do.
- DOWN UNDER PROXY 2008 RACE SERIES - Again, South City Raceways will be involved in hosting rounds of the Down Under Proxy race series. This year we have 3 entered cars in the series, so we will be watching with bated breath on their progress.
- SLOT.IT 8 HOUR ENDURO - A new & exciting race to be run hopefully during the middle of the year, where we test the endurance of 4 new Slot.It racers, over 4 weeks & a total of 8 hours race time
As more details come to light, I will post them there. I will also work on some other aspects of the website & get it a bit more shipshape.
Thanks
Ashley
NEW TRACK MANIA AT SOUTH CITY RACEWAYS. 11 Jul 2007. As tracks go, new tracks take there place. It appears that there has been a new track frenzy at South City Raceways.
On Monday the 9th of July, 2007, we had our first race meeting at our latest track, being Hovno Raceway, owned by James. Hovno raceway is a slightly different configuration to what we are used to, being 3 lanes, but is still a fine Routed MDF, Ferrador based track. While its a little tighter in spots then what we are normally used to, it doesn't mean its not fun to drive. James is still working on the scenery, but after seeing his tree's, it is sure to be a master piece when completed.
Next Monday (the 16th of July) see's racing return at a familiar place, but with a not so familiar track. Yes, Steve has finished his upgrade of the Beachside Model Raceway. The nights racing will feature Stocker track cars, NASCARS & AMC's or V8's (depending on the night & the grip level. If you have them, bring both). This is surely not a night to be missed.
Finally, while we are talking about new tracks, it would be amiss for me not to mention Kane's excellent 2 laner. This challanging track is simply a master piece (& fun to boot).
I am still gathering images to show off these 3 new tracks, but once I obtain some more, I will update the gallery sections.
Please also note the slight changes to the calendar, especially racing this coming Monday at Steve's.
Good slotting all!!
WHATS THIS...? AN UPDATE. 01 Jun 2007. Yes, OK, I have been a naughty boy...I have been neglecting this website. I could use all the excuses in the world, but the cold harsh reality is that I have been a bit lazy....OK, since the last update, we have completed 2 championship, seen 1 track continually upgraded, 1 track with a new configuration, 2 new tracks come online, 1 track lost & another completely pulled down & is in the progress of a total rebuild. Yes its been a busy time
Now, where do I start? Firstly, we have completed 2 championships since the last update. I have now posted the 2006 championship results (Link) & the 2007 championship results (link) on the results page.
While we are talking updates, I have also posted the latest calendar (link). I will try to keep this updated where possible.
I have also started a thread on the Auslot forum, under the club racing section. We now have a few members who are also members of this forum, so it might be a quick & easy way to check out any last minute updates. The link is here (Auslot South City Raceway Club discussion) & is also on our home page.
Finally, I do accept that the website needs a bit of a freshen up. If you have any images or graphics (or Idea's) that you would like to contribute, please feel free to let me know.
There we go, a quick update.....that wasn't hard was it!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. 18 Dec 2005. Well, 2005 is nearly over, so I would like to take the opertunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Again, I have another fantastic year slotting with you all. Its been great to see some new tracks come on board this year. This certainly has added to our little group and I have certainly enjoyed racing at them all.
In reflection though, it was a little dissapointing to see some of our members fall off the radar during 2005. I know trends change and we all need to do our own thing, but the fact that we haven't been able to replace these members with new ones has also been a little dissapointing. (also considering that our hobby is undergoing some sort of "Boom" phase)
With this in mind, I think it is up to all of us to encourage any one who shows an interest to come and join in, regardless of ability, age, equipment (or lack there of) or shoe size. If the come, we must then encourage them to come back!!
Anyhow, like I said, it has been a great year. And not to forget, congratulations to our 2 champions, James in the B grade and Jordan in the A grade. Good effort this year.
Finally, what is Christmas with out Pressys. At great cost to SCR (well none actually), I have been able to source you all an excellent Slot Car Calendar for 2006. This comes courtesy of The Slot-Diner, a privately run Slot Car website, run by a generous Austrain gentleman called
Felix Potsak (if you frequent some of the international Slot Car forums, his name is Slot Brother).
To down load the calendar, right click on the link below and press "Save As". Save the ZIP file to somewhere on your computer (Be warned. This file is over 7mb, so it will take a while on Dial up). Once you have save it, open the file and you should have 13 high resolution images that you can print:

Merry Christmas all and a happy new year!!
WE ARE FINALLY ONLINE. 11 Aug 2005 After a Long wait, finally South City Raceways have come kicking and struggling into the 21st Century. Yep, 5 years after it became cool, we are finally online.
I'm not going to lie here. This isn't going to be the best web site in the world, as a matter of fact its going to be pretty basic. But its OUR web site, a place where we can be kept up to date, be informed and possibly attract a few more people to join in one of the best kept secrets in the world, Slot Car Racing!!
Thanks must go to those who provided content and comments, such as Mark, Dave, Steve, Wade & Wayne. Also a special thanks goes out to Justin from Liquid-Media for his advice and for allowing us to use some of his server space.
Don't forget, this is your web site as well. If you have any comments or you want to add some content, please send me an email, or alternatively, fill out the form on the "Contact SCR" page.
Anyhow, grab yourself a warm Bevvy, put your feet up and have a bit of a browse....Cheers....Ashley
